2nd Annual TdotTO Fundraiser

Last year I decided to organize an online fundraiser to raise funds for 2 charities. With the Twitter community we were able to raise $1,260.00 for Heart and Stroke Foundation and the Daily Bread Foodbank. For each day for the next 10 days the highest bidder by 10pmET will WIN a custom, "I Love Twitter" t-shirt. This year it will be a black t-shirt with white type and red Twitter logo.

I've decided to pick one charity this year, The Heart and Stroke Foundation. All you have to do is tweet your bid to me with the hashtag #TdotTO1 for the first day. The next day would be #TdotTO2 and so forth.

Example: @clickflickca I bid $25.00 for the @TheHSF #TdotTO1

The highest bidder each night will need to give me their mailing info for delivery of tshirt and for tax receipt purposes. Each shirt will have your Twitter name with the hashtag. 100% of funds will go to @TheHSF. Please allow time for tshirt process to be completed since each search will be custom. If you have any questions tweet me or ask me here. Good luck and let's see if we can raise a little for some good during this holiday season.

Strut for a Good Cause.

I recently had the opportunity to attend an event to promote a campaign to End Violence Against Women. It was recently held at the Turf Lounge located at 330 Bay Street and hosted by Toronto morning news personality Steve Anthony @SteveAnthony

The event also had Matt Jones representing BEAM Global Canada. He was able to make guest various special cocktails for the evening. He made 2 special drinks for the evening:

Slingback Cocktail: Maker's Mark Bourbon with apple, peach and lime juice.

Blistered Stilletto: Maker's Mark Bourbon with vermouth, spiced syrup garnished with a flamed orange zest as pictured above.

The food being served included canapes such as Chorizo & Manchego pizzettes pictured above, duck proscuitto with Waldarf salad in a shrimp chip, and shoe string frites in lemon aioli. The frites were my favourite of the night.

The primary purpose of the evening was to bring awareness and to promote an upcoming event "Walk a Mile in Her Shoes". This event is organized by the White Ribbon Campaign. You can create a team and you are asked to wear a pair of high heels and walk a mile. I had the opportunity to put on a pair of heels and it did feel awkward but it's all for a good cause. It didn't help that I had polka dot socks on either but i digress. I hope you can join them in this great charity event in Toronto.

*** UPDATE: BIDDING WILL END AT 10pmET every night. Highest bid at 10pm wins. Winners will be posted on this site. ***

I have been inspired lately by the holiday season and also through reading stories such as Twitter Stories that the best way to give this season is to give back. I've spoken with some people and thought of repercussions. If my heart is in the best interest that is all that matters, right?

I'm going to try and raise some money for the Toronto Food Bank and Heart & Stroke Foundation through my own funds. I'm going to try and extend the money I donate by selling these "Limited Edition" t-shirts to the highest bidder on Twitter. The limited edition t-shirts are going to be customized with your Twitter handle on the back with the issue #. I'm hoping to create 10 shirts since this cost is coming from my own pocket. I have never done anything like this before so I'm not sure what the reaction will be. I'm here to set an example of doing some good and the best interest of the Toronto community. I hope you can donate generously. All 100% proceeds will go to the mentioned organizations. I hope with the use of Social Media and the local Toronto community that we can make a difference even if it's small. This is a limited time offer for the 10 days left until Christmas

I will begin tomorrow by auctioning off the first t-shirt starting at $20.00. I will ask you to tweet me with a bid amount with #TdotTO1 . Highest price after each day gets the t-shirt. Payment via paypal or Estransfer will be the only form of payment. For more information on the supported organizations: Daily Food Bank and the Heart & Stroke Foundation All proceeds will be tallied and kept transparent and donated on a 50/50 split. My goal is to bring awareness and to raise some funds to help. That is all. If this is not successful then I will still donate an amount to the charities. So to me it's a win situation no matter what the outcome. I hope you can be supportive and know my thoughts are in the best interest to anyone this may affect. Again 100% of the proceeds are going to the organizations. Bidding will begin tomorrow. Thanks for reading. :-)
