2nd Annual TdotTO Fundraiser

Last year I decided to organize an online fundraiser to raise funds for 2 charities. With the Twitter community we were able to raise $1,260.00 for Heart and Stroke Foundation and the Daily Bread Foodbank. For each day for the next 10 days the highest bidder by 10pmET will WIN a custom, "I Love Twitter" t-shirt. This year it will be a black t-shirt with white type and red Twitter logo.

I've decided to pick one charity this year, The Heart and Stroke Foundation. All you have to do is tweet your bid to me with the hashtag #TdotTO1 for the first day. The next day would be #TdotTO2 and so forth.

Example: @clickflickca I bid $25.00 for the @TheHSF #TdotTO1

The highest bidder each night will need to give me their mailing info for delivery of tshirt and for tax receipt purposes. Each shirt will have your Twitter name with the hashtag. 100% of funds will go to @TheHSF. Please allow time for tshirt process to be completed since each search will be custom. If you have any questions tweet me or ask me here. Good luck and let's see if we can raise a little for some good during this holiday season.

TdotTO Fundraiser Update for Toronto Food Bank and Heart & Stroke Foundation

Only 10 t-shirts made.

Custom info on each t-shirt with Twitter handle.

What is TdotTO? Back on December 15th I started a Twitter Fundraiser for 10 straight days until December 25th Christmas Day. I was going to giveaway 10 t-shirts to the highest bidder on Twitter every night at 10pm. I decided to do this fundraising because Twitter has given so much to me personally that it was my way of giving back to the community. I selected 2 charities dear to my heart with the Daily Bread Food Bank to feed Toronto locals and the Heart & Stroke Foundation. In the 10 days the Twitter community raised $1,260.00. This meant that each charity would receive $630.00. The Toronto Twitter community is truly amazing. There are so many good people and I commend those that made a donation to the TdotTO Fundraiser.

I just received the tshirts recently so this is an update for you and those that donated. Unfortunately the process took longer than expected but it has been completed. The total amount has been deposited to both charities and everyone that donated shall receive a tax receipt for the full amount. Proof and payment will be showcased here as soon as I received final authorization. Tshirts will be shipped shortly.

Proof of deposit to Daily Bread FoodBank. H&SF only gives a confirmation/authorization number so the proof of purchase will not be shown here until invoice arrives. This will be updated.

The following are some of the donors: @rosalesj @avalen1 @iamjeffmiranda @ChocolaChocola1 @TaylorNVFerri @AcuraSherway @HotTorontoDeals This is not the complete list of people because they want to be anonymous. On a side note I also want to "Thank" Evoke Salon for donating funds to the TdotTO as well.

On a final note, I've learned a lot from this experience and happy that we are able to give back to the community as a group. I look forward to doing this again in 2012. I'm also looking at trying to get the donation group together for a lunch/dinner so we can all meet up. If you have any suggestion please let me know. Thanks again to everyone including you for tweeting and reading this message. As I read a tweet recently on my stream, " Sometimes a small thing you do can mean everything in another person's life. " You've all made a difference so "Thank You".

Tweet in Toronto auction. #TdotTO

*** UPDATE: BIDDING WILL END AT 10pmET every night. Highest bid at 10pm wins. Winners will be posted on this site. ***

I have been inspired lately by the holiday season and also through reading stories such as Twitter Stories that the best way to give this season is to give back. I've spoken with some people and thought of repercussions. If my heart is in the best interest that is all that matters, right?

I'm going to try and raise some money for the Toronto Food Bank and Heart & Stroke Foundation through my own funds. I'm going to try and extend the money I donate by selling these "Limited Edition" t-shirts to the highest bidder on Twitter. The limited edition t-shirts are going to be customized with your Twitter handle on the back with the issue #. I'm hoping to create 10 shirts since this cost is coming from my own pocket. I have never done anything like this before so I'm not sure what the reaction will be. I'm here to set an example of doing some good and the best interest of the Toronto community. I hope you can donate generously. All 100% proceeds will go to the mentioned organizations. I hope with the use of Social Media and the local Toronto community that we can make a difference even if it's small. This is a limited time offer for the 10 days left until Christmas

I will begin tomorrow by auctioning off the first t-shirt starting at $20.00. I will ask you to tweet me with a bid amount with #TdotTO1 . Highest price after each day gets the t-shirt. Payment via paypal or Estransfer will be the only form of payment. For more information on the supported organizations: Daily Food Bank and the Heart & Stroke Foundation All proceeds will be tallied and kept transparent and donated on a 50/50 split. My goal is to bring awareness and to raise some funds to help. That is all. If this is not successful then I will still donate an amount to the charities. So to me it's a win situation no matter what the outcome. I hope you can be supportive and know my thoughts are in the best interest to anyone this may affect. Again 100% of the proceeds are going to the organizations. Bidding will begin tomorrow. Thanks for reading. :-)
