Netflix Canada and House of Cards Giveaway

Though the first season only premiered in February 2013 on Netflix, House of Cards is one of those shows that burst onto the scene and has already developed some pretty hardcore fans. All over Twitter and Facebook, people cannot stop talking about how amazing this show is. House of Cards is an American political drama. The storyline surrounds Frank Underwood, played by the very talented Kevin Spacey. Frank is a Democrat from South Carolina who gets passed over for appointment as Secretary of State. I must have been living under a rock, because I've just recently started watching House of Cards! I'm excited to say I've finally set up my Netflix account and can't wait to catch up to the newest season. I'm currently on Season 1, Episode 7. I'm enjoying the different story lines and watching the characters develop. Oh, Zoe!

Cards Against Humanity is another phenomenon that has come about. Cards Against Humanity is unlike any party game you have ever played. It is not for the sensitive at heart! It's rude, it's awkward, it's hilarious. Playing the game is pretty simple. In each round, one player asks a question from a Black Card, and everyone else answers with their funniest White Card. Toronto's First Carnival Food Festival Foodival

I have never been to Foodival before! It will be the first time for this event but I'm looking forward to experiencing something NEW and different in Toronto. I get excited when a unique event that involves food comes to town. It's also important to support local business to keep the city thriving. Reading the press release, it looks like an event that mixes food and a carnival atmosphere. The cool part of this type of event is that it allows you to bring your family too. ( Day passes )

Boston Pizza is the Official Bar of the UFC

This weekend I had the opportunity to participate in some UFC festivities being held at Boston Pizza; Boston Pizza is the Official Bar of the UFC. I've visited the Boston Pizza on Front street many times due to it's proximity to the Rogers Centre but it was my first time visiting the Boston Pizza at Leslie and Lakeshore Avenue. I brought along my sister, brother-in-law, and cousin to enjoy UFC 165. The main match between John Jones vs. Alexander Gustafsson ended up with Jones winning by decision.



The Boston Pizza is a great spot to watch sporting events and UFC for their multiple screens and great sound. It gives the feeling of being there in person. Check BostonPizza.ca for various promotions and events.



BP Pizza Spring Rolls, nachos, sticky ribs and bacon wrapped steak skewers are a few of the appetizers we enjoyed that evening. Bacon wrapped steak skewers was my obvious favourite appetizer. Everything tastes better with bacon!! Boston Pizza also has a great selection of main dishes worth trying. If you think Boston Pizza only serves pizza, you're wrong! I was surprised by the extensive menu and options.



My sister enjoyed the seafood fettuccini dish. Tender scallops, wild salmon, prawns and steam mussels tossed in a cream white wine sauce. She recommends this dish for any carb lover out there.. I will definitely have to try this pasta dish next time I visit.



The Panookie is a must try dessert when you visit Boston Pizza. A giant, freshly baked, pizza-pan chocolate chip cookie served with ice cream. It will send your sweet tooth in overdrive!

Overall, my family enjoyed a great night of food and drinks, and are looking forward to their next visit. Medieval Times Giveaway

I recently had the opportunity to attend Medieval Times in Toronto for the first time ever. Medieval Times is a dinner and show set with knights in armour, horses and pageantry and so much more. This reminded me of history class or a video game i played when I was a little kid. As soon as you arrive you are assigned a paper crown to wear with a colour which represented your team. In the arena all seats are sectioned by colour. We happen to be yellow and red for the night so we would be cheering for the knight in yellow and red.



The entertainment continues with various stunts and presentations by the Knights in a theatrical arena set with pageantry and royalty. While the knights entertain we eat with our bare hands. There are no utensils to use to replicate and give it that feel of ancient times.

The food comprises of soup, half a chicken, ribs and potatoe and a pastry dessert. I will admit that the chicken was very good and juicy. It's a complete meal paired with some drinks and your good to go. Now I went to the show with 3 guys and we all had a good time. I think this type of event is great for anyone but I think the family or kids would most enjoy this event more. I was telling my guests that I would love to take my nephews to this because they love video games and this represents somewhat a "real life video game" with knights and swords.



This month they have a special leading up to March in which kids can eat for $9.99 with an Adult ticket purchase so this is a great time to take advantage of this special. They also have a Valentine's promotion called the 'Couple Package'. This consist of a photo,entry, champagne, rose and admission into the dungeon. Details can be found here: Couple Package



There is also bar service in main arena and entry to Castle. Souvenir merchandise and actual swords can also be purchased. It's a very different and unique way to dine and experience theatre type entertainment. So come out and enjoy: Medieval Times

Joey Restaurants recently opened a NEW location at Yorkdale Mall. Joey restaurant started in 1992 on the west coast providing customers with the best experience of casual and upscale all at once. Now they spread the love to us in Toronto.



I had the opportunity to get an advance preview of Joey Yorkdale and I was impressed upon arrival. The interiors and design layout are beautiful and inviting. It reminds me of a cool bar/restaurants I visited in Las Vegas such as LAVO and Sushi Samba. Joey has a sexy vibe and that could be contributed to the beautiful staff that seems to be consistent amongst the various locations. That will attract my attention.



The attention to detail with the charging units below the bar counter is wicked. Yes, I used the word "wicked.

Joey is more than sushi. They have a full menu here. I frequent the Joey Toronto location and they probably think i live there. My go to meal is the Ahi Tuna Club and the mashed potato spring rolls with sour cream, bacon and green onions. I recommend you visit a Joey Restaurant for a great food and great experience. Plans are being made for Sherway Mall and a Markham/Markville location in 2013.
