Lee Chen 1st Anniversary Tweetup

Lee Chen Bistro is 1 year old. Please join us to celebrate this milestone. Most of you have probably never heard of this restaurant or may have passed by it but never ventured in to try the cuisine. Lee Chen Bistro is nestled in a prime location in the Yorkville (Yonge and Bloor area). That location is surrounded by numerous office towers and other restaurants making this area very competitive for your disposable income.

I've met the couple that own Lee Chen Bistro and they are the most pleasant people to deal with in regards to organizing this 1 year tweetup. They have been very open-minded and open to change, but are still trying to grasp the importance of the Social Media aspect in relation to the restaurant which is a good thing. It is very fun to introduce businesses to Social Media because they're always in awe of the amplification of the tools.

So why did I organize a tweetup with Lee Chen Bistro? Here are my 10 reasons:

1-Location, location, location. They are authentic Asian cuisine that is not located in Chinatown. It's refreshing to have one in the Yorkville area and not have to go to Chinatown for Asian cuisine.

2-Most of the staff speak english. Have you ever been to Chinatown and not been able to understand the wait staff because they did not speak english? I bet you know what i mean. Being able to see your food bill itemized in english also brings a sense of relief. I do not know how to read chinese characters so I never knew if I was being charged correctly for my dishes. You won't have that problem here at Lee Chen.

3-An asian friend of mine told me to eat here and he eats at a lot of Asian places. He told me the soups and the Xioa Long Bao are pretty good and authentic. I do not know authenticity myself but the brisket and the Xioa Long Bao were really good.

4-While eating at Lee Chen for lunch one day I met @CoreCorina in person by fluke. I never met her before but knew of her online. She's knowledgable in Social Media and has worked with many restaurants in the GTA. We co-organized this celebration tweetup with simplicity and no hassles. Thanks to Orderit for being a sponsor too!

5-I've organized over 40 tweetups from small to big. I've always been a person that likes to be social and share experiences but stopped doing them because I felt anyone can do them now and that took the load off me. I didn't have to do the work anymore and I can actually enjoy tweetups myself. It's also a learning experience for me in terms of consultation.

6-The decor of Lee Chen's is actually very Asian authentic looking. There are no white plastic covered tables which is quite refreshing. In a bustling city, to have a quiet serene spot is a good thing.

7-The food is good. Yes you can have better Asian food elsewhere in Toronto but Lee Chen is up there overall with them with unique food dishes. They are responsive and being open to feedback with their menu so this shows they have flexibility and creativity.

8-It's a great little spot to have a business meeting. They also have a business menu for quick service with a very extensive wine list.

9-They are a local small business open to change and adaptability. Support local.

10-They have the good kind of fortune cookies, the more yellowy ones. If you eat in Asian restos you know what i mean!

GIVEAWAY: Bird is the word have you heard?

This is just a little fun giveaway I'm doing via Twitter to make things fun and interesting online. As you know I've been known to give a few things away via Twitter and this is my way of entertaining my followers and keeping you engaged. I've given away gift certificates, laptops and free hugs and much more so why not continue it's more fun like that right?

I'm going to try something different here in terms of this contest. I'm not sure if it will work or not but I'll never know if I don't try. First off, the prize is a small item. It's a chrome plated cast metal bottle opener from Umbra Ltd. It's a cute little knick knack of an item that is cool because of the design and practicality of the item. It doubles as a bottle opener. Does it not look like a Twitter bird? Maybe I'm wrong. Any hoot, here's how to ENTER to WIN:

I'm going to keep this simple. I want you to refer someone on Twitter and tell me why he/she should WIN one of these bird bottle openers. You can recommend a friend or a complete stranger on Twitter. Give me a reason why you pick that person and you both can WIN. This is a unique way to share in the fun with your followers on Twitter. If this contest is successful I will continue to giveaway more prizes in future.

Here's an example of entry:

@clickflickca I want @TwitterName to win a bird because she's cool and wacky. #ClickFlick

You can give any reason for the WIN and be creative. The more creative the better chance of WINNING. I will select WINNERS this Friday September 28th. This is OPEN to anyone is Canada/USA. Good luck and have fun with it. :-)

Strut for a Good Cause.

I recently had the opportunity to attend an event to promote a campaign to End Violence Against Women. It was recently held at the Turf Lounge located at 330 Bay Street and hosted by Toronto morning news personality Steve Anthony @SteveAnthony

The event also had Matt Jones representing BEAM Global Canada. He was able to make guest various special cocktails for the evening. He made 2 special drinks for the evening:

Slingback Cocktail: Maker's Mark Bourbon with apple, peach and lime juice.

Blistered Stilletto: Maker's Mark Bourbon with vermouth, spiced syrup garnished with a flamed orange zest as pictured above.

The food being served included canapes such as Chorizo & Manchego pizzettes pictured above, duck proscuitto with Waldarf salad in a shrimp chip, and shoe string frites in lemon aioli. The frites were my favourite of the night.

The primary purpose of the evening was to bring awareness and to promote an upcoming event "Walk a Mile in Her Shoes". This event is organized by the White Ribbon Campaign. You can create a team and you are asked to wear a pair of high heels and walk a mile. I had the opportunity to put on a pair of heels and it did feel awkward but it's all for a good cause. It didn't help that I had polka dot socks on either but i digress. I hope you can join them in this great charity event in Toronto.

Enter to WIN a Toshiba Ultrabook.

Thin. Sleek. Beautiful.

It's a busy end to the summer here at ClickFlick.ca and I hope you all enjoyed the summer. In partnership with Intel Canada, I'm happy to introduce the Toshiba Portege Z830 Ultrabook. In three words it's thin, sleek and beautiful.

I'm a previous owner of a macbook and have an HP laptop but the Toshiba Ultrabook is the smallest and lightest laptop i've seen. I'll give you the most basic and non-technical explanation of this Ultrabook. This Ultrabook has an extended battery life of up to 8 hrs. It has an SD card slot for easy transfer of pictures/videos. It has 3 USB ports. A headphone and microphone jack. It also has an HDMI port for connecting to your TV. It has a ethernet port for connecting to internet via cable. That is the simple and basics of this Ultrabook. If you want to see the more technical aspects of this laptop you can check at Toshiba website.

The Ultrabook is so small that it fits inside nicely within another Intel laptop as seen below.

The thickness of the Ultrabook is almost the same thickness of an iphone to give you perspective. This laptop is really good for someone on the go. If you are like a blogger on the move from one event to another or a student looking for portability this is your laptop. Your text books probably way more than this laptop.

I also like the Intel technology of this laptop more specifically the fingerprint scan on the touchpad. Instead of entering passwords just scan your finger on the keypad area for access to websites.

I'm giving away 1 Toshiba Ultrabook Z830 to one of my followers on Twitter. To ENTER you must be following @Clickflickca and @IntelCanada on Twitter. You also must add the hashtag #IntelCANUltrabook to the tweet.

Copy and Paste into Raffelcopter below.
